This family business was inspired by the lack of authentic bagels in Dallas, and a beloved Granny. The name Lubbies is a combination of their last name, Lubkin, with Bubbie, a common term for a Jewish grandmother.
With a name and a partial interior design deck in hand, we started designing a logo brand for Lubbies. The client had referenced the history of “bagels as possessing magical powers against evil.” We went with an eye motif as a fun and memorable play on that concept.
To achieve this look, we placed a bagel at the center surrounded by a diamond shape, a popular wallpaper motif from the 1930s, and a nod to Bubbie. We topped it off with sesame seed creating eyelashes. The brand is currently still being rolled out. Here are a few examples. The website is designed but not yet live... coming soon!
