When Crowbar Films green-lit a branding project for Pink Jacket we launched a discussion of the client’s vision. In the initial stages of branding, we start by asking questions that help us guide their project in their direction.
Initial Discovery:
To get things started, we ask a few questions:
• Could you give us a few adjectives representing your company?
• Do you know what you envision in terms of a look? Examples of likes and dislikes help convey what the client has in mind and what they may not be able to articulate verbally.
• Who do you see as your competitors?
• Who is your target audience? What are personality traits, income levels, demographics, etc.?
We also review our steps with clients who may not be familiar with this process. We discuss their corporate attitude and anything relevant to their branding development. This collaborative approach ensures that the client’s vision is at the heart of our work. After we received the client’s feedback, we got to work.
Challenge:
The first round of logos was designed and presented. It became apparent that the name Crowbar Productions was very long and cumbersome. The client’s solution was to create a DBA as Crowbar Films (instead of Productions). Our designer then incorporated the shorter name and presented it to our client again to see how it played out. That did the trick!
Outcome:
Pink Jacket Digital Marketing finalized our client’s logo after a few revisions and tweaks, and voila! we have a logo!
Applications:
After the logo was approved and finalized, we moved on to web and business card design. We design with future usage in mind, even if the client doesn’t have a current use for other applications. A good logo works well in digital and physical environments, from favicon to signage size.
Partnership:
After the initial project with Crowbar was complete, we worked with our clients for anything that may come up and are more than thrilled to share their upcoming project, You Gotta Believe. The story of the 2002 Little League baseball team of misfits dedicate their season to a player’s dying father. In doing so, they accomplish the impossible by reaching the World Series finals in a game that became an ESPN instant classic. Check out the trailer here, out in theaters on August 30th!
